A bobtail squid photographd during a night-dive in Hobart. It can: 1/ Turn almost invisible when viewed from below (cancelling out its silhouette) 2/ Stick a layer of sand onto the top of its body, due to a special cell type part of its skin. 3/ Drop the sand coat all at once, thanks to an acidic type of cell also part of its skin. This can suffice to confuse a predator and let the bobtail squid escape.
